From January to December, from the tantalizing aroma of smokin’ brisket to shimmering Christmas lights, there is a fun weekend waiting for you in Navasota!

GoTexanJanuary – Kick off the new year with food, dancing, games and a variety of activities at the annual Grimes County Go Texan weekend! Cheer on your favorite cooks to represent Grimes County at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and bring home scholarship funds for Grimes County youth. Go Texan activities are held at the Grimes County Fair & Expo, 5220 FM 3455 just 3.3 miles from historic downtown Navasota.

Treat your sweetheart to delectable appetizers, decadent desserts, live music and more in the elegant Chandelier Lobby. The P.A. Smith Hotel is located in the heart of downtown Navasota at 111 Railroad Street.

Enjoy two days of an incredible mix of Tejano and country music, food, fun and games on the grounds of Navasota’s City Hall, 200 E. McAlpine Street. Past performers include Roger Creager, Diamond Rio, La Mafia, Los Chicos del 512 and the Selena Experience, John Michael Montgomery, Sammy Kershaw and Aaron Watson. It’s a party you don’t want to miss!

– Find a hidden treasure at the Navasota Farmers Market at the Navasota Public Library, 1411 E. Washington Avenue. Enjoy a parking lot packed with a wide variety of vendors featuring crafts, baked goods, body products, & more! The Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. the second Saturday of each month, March through December.








Groovy GrapesMarch/April
- The Groovy Grapes Wine Walk is sponsored by the Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce in downtown Navasota! Check in at the Visitor’s Center and receive a map and punch card for great prizes, then sip and shop your way around Navasota’s historic downtown. Held on Easter Saturday, the event showcases Navasota’s great small businesses, local musicians, area wineries and meaderies. The Visitor’s Center is located on Washington Avenue in the heart of downtown Navasota.
 

Sounds of summer FINAL Logo - CopyJune, July & August – Summer never sounded so good - the Sounds of Summer Concert Series, that is! This free annual event hosted by the City of Navasota features a variety of musical entertainment styles from blues to Tejano to country, with something for everyone. Relax in your lawn chair on City Hall grounds and enjoy the fare of local food truck and beverage vendors. Concert dates and lineup TBA.

– Embrace your rural roots at the Grimes County Fair held at the Grimes County Fair & Expo, 5220 FM 3455 just 3.3 miles from downtown Navasota. Shift gears from the fun-filled Indoor Kid’s Rodeo to the heart-stopping CPRA competition. That’s Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association for you city slickers! Enjoy music and dancing provided by high profile headliners and don’t forget to take in the Market judging - steer, swine and broilers, just to name a few. For senior citizens, the Grimes County Fair has a special day set aside for you with a free lunch and bingo! The Grimes County Fair Association -  supporting the youth of Grimes County, 4-H and FFA since 1952.

– There is no better place to celebrate America’s independence than at the Navasota Freedom Festival in downtown Navasota! This family-friendly event begins with games and other fun activities at 1 p.m. followed by the annual Fourth of July parade at 6 p.m. Relax and enjoy live music until the grand finale fireworks display begins at 8 p.m. Navasota Freedom Festival – where freedom rings!

– Whether you are a hunter or a collector, the Friends of Grimes County Gun Show has been the county’s premier gun show since 2010. You’re sure to find what you’re looking for among the 100 vendors whose wares include antique weapons, handguns and rifles as well as ammunition, gun safes, hog traps, hunting accessories, knives, leatherwork, concealed carry purses, clothing and candles. FGC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and proceeds from the two-day event fund a variety of needs throughout Grimes County. The FGC Gun Show is held at the Grimes County Fair & Expo, 5220 FM 3455, just seven minutes from downtown Navasota.

TrueBlue - CopyAugust – Steak and top-shelf country music from performers like Neal McCoy, Kevin Fowler and Mark Chestnutt are hallmarks of the Grimes County True Blue Foundation Dinner. Funds raised are used for equipment procurement, financial assistance for injured law enforcement personnel and scholarships to attract men and women to attend law enforcement academies. Grimes County True Blue – supporting law enforcement in Grimes County!



Bubbas - CopySeptember
– So, you think you can cook? Friends of Grimes County’s Bubba Can Cook began in 2007 and continues to draw individuals and teams from all over the United States to this highly competitive cookoff. To ensure the torch is passed to a new generation of Bubbas and Bubbettes, Friends of Grimes County began its Friday night Junior Cookoff in 2017 for age 12 and under. Proceeds from this three-day barbecue-infused live music event fund a variety of needs throughout Grimes County. Be a cook or be a taster – but just be there at Bubba Can Cook at the Grimes County Fair & Expo, 5220 FM 3455, only a short drive from downtown Navasota.


Lanterns & Legends October
– You’re never too old for Halloween – thanks to the collaborative efforts of The Navasota Theatre Alliance and the City of Navasota! The Navasota Theatre Alliance’s annual production of Lanterns & Legends reveals the stories of past Navasotans, some famous and some infamous, who have made Oakland Cemetery their permanent home. A guided walking tour after dark takes patrons from gravesite to gravesite where actors in period costume tell the sometimes sad or humorous stories of those who contributed to Navasota present. Oakland Cemetery is located at 801 Sixth Street in Navasota.

– Get a head start on that Christmas list at the Reds, Wheats & Blues Festival hosted by the Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce! Enjoy a little wine or craft beer, finger foods and Navasota blues music while shopping the boutiques and quaint shops in historic downtown. Check in is at the Visitor’s Center on Washington Avenue at Farquhar Street in the heart of downtown Navasota.






Holiday in the Garden! - CopyNovember
– Kick off the holiday season with the magic of Martha’s Bloomers Holiday in the Garden! Everybody’s favorite home and garden store is transformed into a Christmas wonderland of festive lights and tasty hors d’oeuvres, adult beverages and Dulcimer music prime the senses for Christmas! Martha’s Bloomers is located at 8101 Highway 6 North in Navasota.




December
– Make some Christmas memories with the family at Home for the Holidays, a daylong event, hosted by the City of Navasota! During the day Santa will be on hand for free photos. Additional free activities include a bounce house, a mechanical reindeer and a polar express train. Navasota’s shops and boutiques are full of Christmas spirit with hot chocolate, Christmas cookies and some great holiday deals! Wrap up this fun-filled day at 6 p.m. viewing Navasota’s Annual Lighted Parade down Washington Avenue followed by the community tree lighting at the Navasota City Hall, 200 E. McAlpine Street.
